Bottoms Up Celebrates Fifth Birthday This WeekendIt’s bottoms up for Bottoms Up this weekend as the local burlesque troupe throws down some drinks in cheers of five years on stage bringing entertainment to the Quad-Cities, and continues the legacy with shows Friday and Saturday.

Five years ago a group of young performers all of whom shared a love of burlesque decided to join together and form their own troupe.  That troupe became known as Bottom’s Up Quad City Burlesque.  Five years later performers have come and gone but Bottom’s Up still continues to entertain Quad City audiences.

“I remember the first phone call I received from former Bottom’s Up emcee Wayne Lyter” said Brett Hitchcock – Speakeasy Director of Audience Development.  “Wayne called me and said a group of us are forming a new burlesque troupe and we’d like to do our shows in The Speakeasy. I said let’s do it!” Hitchcock recalls. He adds “The partnership with Bottom’s Up has been a wonderful one over the years. The troupe has grown so much over the five years. They are not complacent and always looking to improve and push the envelope which is why their audience loves them so much.”

Original Bottom’s Up member and current Co-Manager Josh Kahn said “The Circa ’21 Speakeasy has been our home now for 5 years, with more than 20 unique shows adding up to over 80 nights on stage in front of the best fans the Quad Cities has to offer. Looking back to the start of Bottoms Up I could never have imagined having so much to look back on and be thankful for. Between all of the performers who have come and gone, to the fans who have never missed a new themed show, to Circa ’21 and The Speakeasy who believed in us enough to give us a home and their full support. We are truly fortunate and grateful. Whether you’re a lifelong fan, a new fan, or if this is your first show it is the support of the community that makes us what we are and allows us to bring our passion to the stage. We look forward to the next five years with the Circa ’21 Speakeasy and many more wonderful shows to share with the Quad Cities.”
