Come celebrate the Grand Opening of WIU- Quad Cities’ Little Free Library near the playground at Ben Butterworth Park (5201 Old River Drive Moline) this Wednesday May 16 from 3-5 p.m.

Western Illinois University-Quad Cities started its first Little Free Library in the spring of 2018 with a mission to promote literacy and an excitement for learning in our community. The Little Free Library was built by WIU-QC AmeriCorps volunteers and will be set up in the children’s playground in Ben Butterworth Parkway, just down the road from the Quad Cities campus. The new library is a free-standing box where anyone can donate or borrow books in an effort to promote literacy in the community.

The Grand Opening on Wednesday will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Fun with Mr. Scott and yard games. There will also be a lemonade stand on-site! The cost for 1 lemonade is 1 donated book.

This amazing new addition to the Quad Cities is bound to have a positive impact on the community. For more information and updates on future events, visit the Little Free Library on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LFLwiuqc/.
