Drums are among one of the oldest musical instruments, dating all the way back to 6000 BC in Mesopotamia. Group drumming has been used for just as long in harvest rituals, solstice gatherings, marriage ceremonies and many more celebrations. Drum Circles, a more recent gathering, are for the sole purpose of connecting the community spiritually and socially through expressive music.

How would you like to participate in or witness a Drum Circle, here in the QCA?

This summer’s 11th and final Beach Drum Circle is happening this Sunday Sep 24 at 6 p.m.

The Beach Drum Circle will take place along the banks of the Mississippi River in Sunset Park in Rock Island at the end of George Skafidas Parkway. For a map and directions of where the Circle meets, go to https://goo.gl/maps/jp8QyvwBQQ92. You can also call Brent at (309) 292-5528 prior to the gathering.

This energetic and up-beat evening will provide entertainment for all. Great conversation, fire performances, dancing and much more will be provided. This is a family-friendly event, so bring out the whole gang! Everyone is invited to participate in drumming, flow arts, flow, fire performance, bubbles, Chinese lanterns and bring those beach toys. If able to, please bring out some firewood as well!
