augie-treeAre you ready for Christmas? Is your house decorated from roof to foundation? Is your radio station set to Christmas songs that you will be humming for the next month?

If you are ready to be in the festive spirit, come to Augustana College and experience one of the many Christmas themed events they are having over the next month. On Wednesday, November 30th, Augustana College is holding their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. President Bahls will be conducting this ceremony in the quad on the south side of Old Main, which is located at 3600 7th Avenue, Rock Island, IL 61201. You can contact the Building Secretary at (309) 794-7335.

Please gather behind Old Main at about 4:30 and the tree shall be lit at approximately 4:45. Cookies and other refreshments will be provided. Everything is free of cost.

I remember attending the tree lighting ceremony last year with my friends. We actually stumbled upon it on accident. It was a highlight of my week to watch this large fir tree be lit in multicolored lights. It definitely helped initiate the feeling of Christmas.

The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is just the beginning of the college’s Christmas themed performances and celebrations, such as Christmas at Augustana (Dec. 3rd), A Christmas Messiah (Dec. 10th-11th), and Lessons and Carols (Dec. 15th). More information for these events will be provided as their dates approach.
