The Quad-Cities Planet Con is touching down again this weekend.

Mellow Blue Planet will host the 7th Annual event, a favorite meeting ground for Creators, Dealers, Vendors, Cosplay, and Fans in the QC area, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at
Holiday Inn Convention Center, 226 17th St., Rock Island. It’s $3 admission, although $1 off coupons are available at Mellow Blue Planet, 2212 5th Ave., Rock Island

Q&A panels start during the morning hours and include:

  • 11a.m. – “Turn Your Passions into a Business”
  • 12p.m. – “Horror Comic Books: From the Page to the Silver Screen and Boob-tube too”
  • 1p.m. – Cosplay Q & A

There is a Costume/Cosplay contest for Children & Adults in the afternoon.  Childrens’ contest will be at 3p.m. with the adults’ at 4 p.m. There are cash prizes for adult costumes.

The Comedy of “SHOW US YOUR POKEBALLS” will bounce in immediately after the Costume contest at 5 p.m.

“It’s standup for nerds, by nerds,” said co-writer, director and host Nikki Gillette. “It is geek culture comedy. We do stuff on Anime, Pokemon, Star Wars, comic books, Dr. Who, if it’s got a fan base in geek culture, we probably cover it.”

Added writer, director and actor Josh Kahn, “These shows are always so much fun. They’re geek humor done by geeks for geeks, and I say that with all love possible. There are jokes for all different kinds of fandoms in here, and if you are passionate about anything related to geek culture, you will enjoy it.”
