Microbrew Mile Series and Craft Beer Festival Returns!
Hey Quad Cities, are you ready for the area’s most highly anticipated kick-off to summer event? That’s right, the 6th Annual Micro Brew Mile Road Race and Craft Beer Festival is almost upon us!
These two amazing events will be happening this Saturday Jun 15 in Downtown Moline! Come out for the area’s only 1-mile and 6K road race and stay for the delectable and downright delicious Craft Beer Festival, afterwards!
Whether you are an avid runner or prefer a leisurely stroll through Downtown Moline, there is a race option for you! The check-in location on the day of the race will be at 5th Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets.
The Mile will have two separate waves. “Athletico Open Wave” starts at 2 p.m. and will include those registering as a Competitive Runner (Men shooting for Sub 6:00 Pace/Women shooting for Sub 7:00 pace), Masters Runner (Men and Women ages 40 and over) and the Open Runners/Walkers.
“Fleet Feet Elite Wave” will begin at 2:25 p.m. and will consist of Men shooting for Sub 5:00 Pace and Women shooting for Sub 6:00 Pace. For both waves of The Mile, prizes will be awarded to the top 5 Men/Women in each category and division.
The most unique race option is the 6K, beginning at 2:45. The Micro Brew Mile 6K is the only one of its kind in the Quad Cities. The course is a flat and fast one that included water stops and entertainment. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age category.
All races are chip-timed for accurate results! The top three fastest Men and Women in both The Mile and the 6K will receive cash prizes along with the top Masters Runner for both Male and Female. The top five overall runners in each wave of the mile will win a customized, commemorative pint glass. The top 3 in each age group of the 6K will receive an awesome limited-edition Micro Brew Mile Pint Glass. All participants of the race will receive a t-shirt and discounted entry to the Craft Beer Festival. There will also be an awesome post-race party with music, snacks and refreshments.

The party doesn’t stop there, though! Whether you completed any one of the races earlier in the day or you are just looking for a good time, come check out the Micro Brew Mile Craft Beer Festival! The festival will be located downtown Moline (5th Avenue and 14th Street) and in the parking lot behind the Barrel House.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Make sure to bring your ID’s because this is a 21 and over event, only! Tickets are $35 and will include 15 craft beer sample tickets, appetizers from downtown Moline restaurants, live music and a great time with friends!
Come enjoy palate-pleasing craft beers from 43 different breweries! Some local favorites will include Bent River Brewing Company, Great River Brewery, Green Tree Brewery, Geneseo Brewing Co, Iron Spike Brewing Company, Radicle Effect Brewers and more!

Not only does the Micro Brew Mile series provide a fun-filled day with friends, but it also raises funds for some great causes. By participating in any of the great activities planned throughout the day, you are directly helping to raise funds for the Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities (https://www.ctcqc.org/), The Chris “SPEY” VanSpeybroeck Memorial (https://speymemorial.weebly.com/) and the newest addition to the Micro Brew Mile family, the Mississippi Bend Trykes (https://www.mississippibendtrykes.org/).
Volunteers are still needed to help this day flow as seamlessly as possible. The number one need is Course Marshals, which will assist with the course, traffic control and cheering on the runners. Set-up and tear-down volunteers are also needed, as well as the fun-filled job of Craft-Beer Engineers (or not so fancy sounding, beer sample pouring). If you are interested in offering your assistance to this Quad Cities’ favorite event, please visit http://www.microbrewmile.com/volunteer.
