Or, at least a really good impersonator of him does.
And of course, the Purple One’s music always lives on, and you can celebrate it at the Speakeasy in Rock Island!
The hit music of PRINCE will fill The Speakeasy on Saturday, Oct. 5 as lip sync sensation Gemini takes the stage for an unforgettable evening with “Under The Purple Rain.”
Gemini will be lip syncing and dancing to all your favorite Prince songs. His costumes and dance moves are sure to remind you of the man himself! Gemini has been portraying Prince for many years and is excited to be bringing his show to the Speakeasy stage for the first time!
Doors on Oct. 5 open at 7 and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show and can be reserved by calling 309-786-7733, ext. 2 or online at thecirca21speakeasy.com.
“When I started out as a drag performer 26 years ago, I was lip syncing a lot of Tina Turner numbers” said Gemini. “My drag mother kept telling me I looked like Prince so why didn’t I lip sync any of his numbers? I started small with a few numbers in selected shows, and it was so well received I stopped doing Tina Turner and exclusively started lip syncing, dressing and performing as Prince. That was many years ago and I’m still performing as him today!”
Gemini continued “I’m a perfectionist, so every detail is so important to me. When I’m on stage I want everything just right from the costumes to the wigs to my lip syncing. I’ve spent many years perfecting my craft! I just know everyone coming to the show is going to have a great time.
“I can’t thank The Speakeasy enough for giving me this amazing opportunity to host my first show. I’ve been a part of so many other shows over the years that I’m just so excited to finally have my own show! It’s a dream come true.”
Gemini will be joined on stage by several guests performers who also will be entertaining audience members throughout the evening!
