Radicle Effect Breworks, 1341 31st Street, Rock Island, has the intimate, place-where-everybody-knows-your-name feel of a neighborhood pub, and located in the midst of college hill, right up the street from Augustana, it features a good mix of ages and folks, from middle-aged couples to college students. Chill and fun, with some of the best and friendliest bartenders in the Q-C, Radicle Effect likewise has a fun mix of flavors, including the new Strawberries and Cream Ale. Big Swing Brew Pub, 113 18th Street, Rock Island, is a newcomer to the scene, just having opened up last year, but they’re in the same spot as the classic Blue Cat Brew Pub, which was the grand old man of the brew pub scene, having opened up in 1993, long before current trends tilted towards brew pubs, and Big Swing offers a lot of the same ambiance and style. Great River Brewery, 332 E. 2nd Street, Davenport, is a great spot just off the arsenal bridge in downtown Davenport that boasts an eclectic blend of traditional and offbeat brews while drawing a young, hip crowd spilling over from other area spots like the Raccoon Motel and Armored Gardens. Wake Brewing, 2925 5th Ave, Rock Island, is the new kid on the block, in a cool corner location on the main drag into Rock Island and a hip ambiance featuring great events like vinyl nights, DJs and more.
