The United Steelworkers negotiating committee released a much-awaited statement this morning, Friday Jun 28.USW and Arconic Come to Tentative Agreement

“The USW and its locals at Arconic have reached a tentative agreement with the Company and will be returning home in the coming days to set up informational meetings and prepare for ratification. The Bargaining committee will be recommending to the membership that this agreement be accepted and the details will be reviewed with our members over the coming days and weeks. This is a good outcome for our negotiations and that is due to the unity, strength and solidarity that the local union leadership and our members and Contract Action Teams have built and demonstrated over the past months in bringing Arconic to the right place.

Stay in touch with your CAT team representatives and we will keep you as updated as possible. The union did not have to issue the 24 hour notice in this situation so everyone should report to work as scheduled.

Thanks for all your determination and strength.

Your USW negotiating Committee”

This news comes after negotiating for a new contract began on Apr 29. The previous contract for the Arconic employees expired on May 15, and members of the United Steelworkers Union have been diligently working with Arconic negotiators to reach an agreement beneficial for the employees and their families in four different locations, including Davenport.

Specifics of the new contract have not been yet released. Members of the USW 105 should expect to hear from union officials in the near future for more information.

Stay tuned to QuadCities.com for details in the new contract.
